THESSALONIKI

"Nymph of Thermaikos"! Thessaloniki, daughter of Philip II, sister of Alexander the Great, gave her name to one of the important cities of ancient and modern Greek area. From 315 b.C. till today, maintains its historical profile.Thessaloniki is most beautiful and romantic European cities. It is no coincidence that the city is a top destination for anyone who chooses Greece throughout the year. There are man historical landmark monuments in the city. Fifteen of them are Early Christian-Byzantine monument which were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988. Thessaloniki can satisfy even the most demanding visitor, archaeological sites, museums, monuments and theaters to luxurious accommodation, night clubs, pubs, restaurants and taverns. The city manages to attract tourism all seasons of the year. Thessaloniki may well be a base city from where you can, in a short time, find yourself in other destinations, depending on preferences. Very close to Thessaloniki, there are several ski resorts that are the top winter destinations. Ski center of Vora-Kaimakts located about 150 km northwest of Thessaloniki, while the 3-5 Pigadia and Seli ski resorts are 115 and 95 kms respect center of Vasilitsa is about 220 km away. Also the ski center of Vigla - Pisoderi is about 211 km west. For those who excursions, they can choose to escape to some lakeside area such as Kerkini or the wonderful waterfalls of Edessa and the Pozar thermal baths about 100 km north west of Thessaloniki.
